Water the Acer palmatum 'Kagiri Nishiki' Japanese maple when the top 50mm (2 inches) of soil is dry. This species prefers moist soil, so it is best to water it a bit more often than other plants. Generally, it is best to water an adult tree twice a week during hot weather, once a week during mild weather, and once a month in winter.
